Internet Publishing" curriculum.

Quinsigamond Community College Mission to create and develop programs of educational relevancy
that serve the diverse needs of Central Massachusetts by providing affordable, accessible, and high
quality programming leading to transfer, career, and lifelong learning. The program reflects The College
vision to mold a technologically literate, yet humane, citizenry, able to thrive, not just survive, in the
world as global village.
Technology Division Mission to provide students with industry training on state-of-the-art equipment,
ensuring that their education and training will meet the needs of industry and offer the highest possible
caliber of employees for the respective workforce. Immerse students in a supportive learning atmosphere
that will initiate them into the culture of technology and pluralism. Prepare the learner with the educational
foundation and opportunities to continue their education, pursue life-long learning, and acquire industry-
specific training.
Applied Arts Program Mission for Computer Graphic Design for Print and Electronic Publishing majors to
achieve computer software and hardware proficiency based on measurable industry standards preparing
them for career opportunities and academic transfer to a baccalaureate degree institution. Students develop
a professional portfolio reflecting proficiency in print and electronic publication design; advertising and
corporate identity promotion; pre press technologies; Web site design, production and maintenance using
Internet multimedia and animation.

1) Achieve computer proficiency based on measurable industry standards in the following
design software programs: Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe
InDesign, Adobe LiveMotion, Adobe GoLive, Adobe ImageReady, QuarkXpress and Wacom
Digital Drawing media to produce designs, symbols, typography, Illustrations and photography
for promotion and sales of products in the global marketplace of print and Internet publications
2) Achieve computer hardware proficiency in Internet and Intranet networking and navigation;
in Macintosh computer systems; in support devices such as scanners, printers, portable and
internal storage; in 35mm SLR and digital camera operation; and compact disk formatting.
3) Develop a professional portfolio of printed and electronic materials reflecting computer graphic design proficiency that meet industry standards for career placement and academic
transfer to a baccalaureate degree institution.
4) Students take 21 liberal arts credits including College English, Art Theory and college math.
The APA curriculum integrates academic, career, and technology training goals in computer
graphic design with the colleges core curriculum goals of academic integrity, communication
skills, computational, technological and analytical skills competencies.
