Evaluation Criteria: The Quinsigamond Community College Mission, Technology
Division Mission, and the Applied Arts Program Mission establish the structural foundation
of goals and objectives for the Applied Arts Program curriculum.
Course Competencies: Assesses student goals and outcomes for each Applied Arts
course.Examples of student work are provided for each course assignment with references
to art theory and design concepts covered in the learning modules.
Student Proficiency: Assesses APA curriculum academic, career and technology training
goals with the colleges core curriculum goals of academic integrity, communication skills,
computational, technological and analytical skills competencies.
Classroom Experience: Assesses student computer software and hardware proficiency.
The APA program teaches the application of didactic art and design theory with technical
information integrated into 10 major computer design applications.
Experiential Learning: Defines the student ÒLearning AgreementÓ and assesses
experiential learning opportunities in Cooperative Education, Service Learning, QCC
Internship Projects, Project Uplink, Work Study, Peer Tutor and Technical Assistant.
Portfolio Evaluation: Assesses visual examples of student assignments used to compile
a professional portfolio of printed and electronic work reflecting computer graphic design
competencies that meet industry standards for career placement.
Career Preparation: Assesses working competencies in advanced electronic and digital
design technologies for career placement by examining regional market trends, placement
statistics, career definitions,salary ranges and graduate interviews.
